As people, we are accountable to the land we live on - but as artists, how are our studios accountable to that same land? How can we help each other?Ecological sustainability is an expansive and truly global discussion. But for this workshop, let&rsquo;s localize this conversation: what can we artists do? What are the ways that Mohk&iacute;nstsis (Calgary) artists and makers can practically bring sustainable and land-conscious habits, tools, materials and approaches into our studio? What are you already doing? Got tips to share?The workshop will be divided into two parts. For the first half, The Personal, we&rsquo;ll examine how we, as individuals, can engage with a greener studio. The second half, The Neighbourhood, will be when we reflect on our experiences with our communities, including galleries, museums, learning institutions, publishers, etc.&nbsp;The Personal will be a 30 minute discussion, and The Neighbourhood will be 25 minutes (with a 5 minute break in between).&nbsp; From Louie Fermor, who will be hosting:&nbsp;For Land and Practice&nbsp;I&rsquo;ll be encouraging a feeling of curiosity, transparency, and admitting our own fallibility when it comes to these things. I wanted to do this workshop not because I am an expert on this info in any way - quite the opposite, actually: I am certainly not an expert on this. I want everyone to be able to talk openly about our oversights. What waste are we all definitely creating, how a lack of info discourages us from making changes, and any other reason we aren&rsquo;t at our eco-conscious goal posts yet. The workshop is not meant to be a theory-driven, abstract, or cutting-edge discourse; it&rsquo;s a few excited and curious artists coming together to talk about a desire they have in common.
