Journeys to the Bandstand: Thirty Jazz Lives in Vancouver chronicles the musical and life journeys of thirty extraordinary artists who have helped shape the jazz scene in Vancouver and further afield. Chris Wong dedicated more than a decade to researching and writing the book, which includes in-depth chapters on Vancouver jazz musicians (Brad Turner, Cory Weeds, Natasha D'Agostino, and others), and also American artists who made an impact here (Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and others).  Chris will launch Journeys to the Bandstand on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at <a href="https://thepostat750.ca/location/" target="_blank">The Post at 750</a>: #110 - 750 Hamilton, Vancouver. Chris will read excerpts from the book, show remarkable photos of musicians featured in the book's 25 core chapters (Steve Mynett took the photo that appears with this invitation), and share rare, unreleased snippets of music that he wrote about. <a href="https://theinfidelsjazz.ca/" target="_blank">Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz</a> will emcee the event and conduct a Q&A with Chris. There will be light refreshments. Chris will have books on hand to sell and sign.  Chris will present the book in two sessions. This is the registration form for Book Launch #2: February 20, 2024, 8:30-10:00 pm (doors 8:15 pm).
