Family and Friends Ride

Everesting is a 1-day gruelling hill climb (8,800m) on Fifty Road. It is an event to raise money for New Hope Community Bike's programming, including teaching children to ride, mentoring youth through skill development and making cycling accessible to vulnerable people groups. <div style="overflow:hidden;position:relative;transition:max-height 1.2s ease 0s;max-height:1095px;width:100%;box-sizing:inherit"><div style="box-sizing:inherit"><h3>Mark your calendars! The format is flexible, so you can ride with your teammates up and down, no need to wait for them to finish for the next person to start.Full Road Closure - We have Fifty Road closed to all but local traffic from 6:00am to 10:00pm to improve the safety for our riders and increase the number of people that can participate in the event. Friends and Family Ride - We’ve added a flat 22km out and back gravel route between the top of the Everest event and Devil’s Puchbowl along the Dofasco 2000 trail. This route features nearly 1km of bike friendly wide boardwalks, dirt and pea gravel surfaces. The trail is a hidden gem on the east escarpment! The route will include two short road sections on open quiet back roads. Location - Everesting laps will take place on Fifty Rd Escarpment Access. This hill has good quality asphalt, a partial shoulder, a mid-way rest point and excellent fall colours. (89 Fifty Rd. Stoney Creek, ON) The total elevation change of each climb is 105m.Start Time and Duration - Those looking to solo the event will need to start riding at 6:00 a.m. and be equipped with front and rear lights and be self supported for the first hour. Team participants will start together at 7:30 a.m. A four person team riding at a reasonable pace should complete their 21 laps in approximately 7 hours. Support - Food, refreshments and medical support will be available at the top of the hill, and a shuttle vehicle will be parked at the bottom.
