<p style="width:100%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span fr-original-style style="box-sizing:inherit"></span></p><p style="box-sizing:inherit">We will start at 10am with a walk through and introduction to tack and uniforms and then spend some time on horse back learning some basic drills.</p><div style="text-align:start;box-sizing:inherit">From Melanie, <br />"I started my ceremonial riding career in 2013 when a posting came out at my work looking for riders to create a Ceremonial Mounted Unit. Training was provided by the Governor General’s Horse Guard Calvary Unit. My horse ‘Missy’ and I attended the 2 day intensive training/try-out and were awarded a position on the York Regional Police Ceremonial Mounted Unit. I had previous dressage <a></a>training but required training in all ceremonial procedures and formations. We attended all practices with the GGHG and within 6 months was offered a position on the GGHG Calvary Unit as well.</div><div style="text-align:start;box-sizing:inherit">GGHG training included formations, military protocols, desensitization, sword and lance training, mounted search & rescue, calvary games and safety procedures.</div><div style="text-align:start;box-sizing:inherit">I completed further training including advanced trailer driver training, technical large animal emergency rescue, training with the North American Police Equestrian Council, Ontario Mounted Special Services Unit, Toronto Police Mounted Unit and the Canadian Cowgirls drill team, training with Chris Irwin and learning Parelli Natural Horsemanship. I became a certified equine specialist with Eagala and obtained my OE rider level 6.</div><div style="text-align:start;box-sizing:inherit">I was awarded the position of head trainer and 2OIC with the YRP CMU in 2016. I created and implemented all training sessions and organized all YRP deployments. The YRP CMU and GGHG attended parades, community events, funerals and formal ceremonies such as the opening of the Pan-am games, escorting the RCMP musical ride and escorting the Lieutenant Governor General at events such as the Queen’s/King’s Plate.</div><div style="text-align:start;box-sizing:inherit">Today Missy is enjoying a semi-retirement life where she is beginning to teach my new horse ‘Star’ the ropes!</div><p></p>
