Mindfulness practices have been shown to improve one's overall well-being and have been shown to enhance children's attention and focus, regulation, memory, and self-acceptance.  Recently, mindfulness has been discussed in the stuttering literature.  This one-hour webinar briefly reviews this literature, enhances participants' understanding of mindfulness, and provides videotaped examples of implementing short practices into stuttering therapy sessions across the lifespan. <br></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;background-color:#ffffff;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"> </p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;background-color:#ffffff;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;background-color:#ffffff;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">Kristin Chmela is a licensed, certified speech-language pathologist and is board certified as a fluency specialist. She is owner and director of Chmela Fluency Center in the Chicago suburban area, and co-founder and co-director of Camp Shout Out.  Kristin has taught both graduate students and clinicians around the world how to enhance interventions with individuals who stutter.  She spends the majority of her time diagnosing and treating individuals who stutter of all ages.  Recently, she completed a 200-hour intensive training course in yoga and mindfulness.
