This workshop will take place in Studio B at Fringe Theatre Adventures. Action Theatre is a beginner-friendly exploration of Ruth Zaporah's Action Theatre, a physical improvisational dance technique based on performing self-generated content. Explore through listening, responding, and improvising with intuitive movement. Ruth quote: “Action Theatre can be a cathartic space to acknowledge that, yes, all our brains are doing this mad whirling dance of anxiety. It acknowledges it cannot contain all of it by its curving and pivoting and sprinkling of content. And it’s everything at the same time!” Originally from Massachusett and Wampanoag land, colonially known as Eastern Massachusetts, Emilia (she/her) is a first-generation settler on Treaty 6 territory. She is the proud recipient of five (or six, tough to keep track) ear surgeries performed by ENT surgeons all over so-called Northeast Florida. Nowadays, Emilia is a performer, puppeteer, educator, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of Boston's Fork & Shoe Theatre Cooperative and the band pUbeRtykiDs. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Theatre Practice at the University of Alberta. CRIPSiE membership is required for this event.
