A DanceWorks CoWorks Series EventAll ages welcome. Affect | Effect explores agency and the invisible forces that shape how we move through the world. Inspired by the urban landscape, the work examines how our environments influence consciousness, behaviour, relationships, and our sense of self and asks how independently we can truly act within those forces. Living in a &ldquo;concrete jungle,&rdquo; our connection to the natural world and to one another can feel obscured, even as it remains ever-present. Through movement, space, proximity, and observation, Affect | Effect explores the tension between connection and isolation, visibility and anonymity, and the continuous feedback loop between our internal states and the world around us. The work invites audiences into a shared space of reflection: What affects us, and what effects do we have on the spaces and people around us? How do we negotiate our sense of self while constantly influencing and being influenced by others?Blending physicality, musicality, a bit of humour and absurdity,&nbsp; Affect | Effect offers a sensorial and contemplative dance experience that invites us to consider our interconnectedness and our responsibility to one another.
