Join us for an important community conversation about artificial intelligence in policing. Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping how policing and criminal justice systems operate. Technologies such as facial recognition, predictive policing, and algorithmic risk assessments raise important questions about fairness, discrimination, transparency, and accountability. This event will begin with a presentation by Professor Gideon Christian, who will explore current applications of AI in policing, their potential risks, and their impacts on Black, Indigenous, immigrant, and other racialized communities. The presentation will be followed by facilitated community conversations, bringing together community members, legal professionals, technologists, policymakers, and other stakeholders to share perspectives, lived experiences, and concerns about algorithmic bias and discrimination in policing. These conversations are part of a broader research project funded by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF), aimed at understanding the impacts of AI in policing and informing more equitable, transparent, and accountable practices. Your voice matters! Whether you have lived experience to share, work in a related field, or simply want to learn more, we welcome your participation. Your perspectives and experiences can help inform research and recommendations for more equitable and accountable policing practices. Participants will receive a $20 gift card as an honorarium in appreciation of their time and contributions. Food and refreshments will also be provided!
