Discover the timeless beauty of Cycladic sculpture while creating an elegant clay portrait inspired by one of the earliest artistic traditions in human history. This two-day workshop combines art history, sculpture, and contemporary artistic expression.&nbsp; Additional Workshop Information This two-day workshop introduces participants to the remarkable sculptural traditions of the ancient Cycladic civilization. Known for their simplified human forms and striking sense of balance, Cycladic sculptures continue to inspire artists around the world. Participants will study key characteristics of this art form and translate those principles into their own clay portrait sculpture. Through guided demonstrations, students will learn hand-building techniques, proportion, surface treatment, and finishing methods. The workshop emphasizes how simplicity and reduction can communicate strength, emotion, and beauty. Discussions will explore the relationship between ancient and contemporary sculpture while encouraging personal interpretation. Participants will develop technical clay skills alongside a deeper appreciation of art history. By the end of the course, each student will complete a refined sculptural portrait inspired by ancient traditions and contemporary creativity.
