Le travail de Frances Adair Mckenzie aborde de manière conceptuelle l’animation expérimentale, la vidéo, la sculpture et l’installation. Au moyen du langage matériel appauvri des objets trouvés, des constructions simples et des séquences en boucle, son travail crée des modèles de références croisées reliant la production, la durée, le désir et la consommation. Tout cela se combine dans l’enregistrement abstrait de la temporalité perçue pour former un paysage nécessaire, un paysage pouvant être considéré à la fois comme une forme de détérioration et de construction.
Frances Adair Mckenzie est une artiste interdisciplinaire basée à Montréal. Elle est titulaire d’un diplôme en nouveaux médias de l'Institut de technologie de la Colombie-Britannique (B.C.I.T.) et d’un baccalauréat en beaux-arts de l’Université Concordia. Ses œuvres ont été exposées au Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides, au Centre CLARK, à la Parisian Laundry et à la Satosphère de la Société des arts technologiques (SAT), à Montréal. Nombre de ses animations, dont une pièce de réalité virtuelle en Stereoscopic stop-motion animation ont été commandées par l’Office national du film du Canada. Elle est actuellement artiste en résidence à la Fonderie Darling à Montréal.
Membre de CLARK depuis 2018.
