À PROPOS DE L’ARTISTE D’origine française, britannique et irlandaise; Paul Ibey se forma de nombreuses années en Europe. Notamment avec Adam Darius dans l’art du mime et du geste. Puis il se concentra sur la danse contemporaine enseignée à The place par le ballet Rambert, où il fit la travailla avec Lucy Burge, Sally Owen, Ruth Silk, Nelson Fernandez, Christopher Bruce; et enfin Robert Cohan qu’il rencontra lui, quelque temps plus tard, au London Contemporary Dance Theatre. Par la suite, il continua sa formation au Royal ballet auprès de Lynn Seymour, Roger Tulley, Tatiana Tchernova, Lazaro Surmeyan, Gelsey Kirkland, et Stanley Williams. Enfin, il choisit de terminer son cursus classique en combinant enseignement et étude avec la très renommée Lindsay Kemp Company. Son travail chorégraphique et de production était ainsi ponctué de danse, théâtre, et musique. Mais son envie d’apprentissage et de découverte ne s’arrêta pas là. Puisqu’en effet, il décida d’étudier l’une de ses premières aspirations, à savoir : la danse Butoh. Une danse dans laquelle il décida de se spécialiser auprès de Sankai Juku, Dai Rakuda Kan, Natsu Nakajima, Carlotta Ikeda, Manhong Kang, et auprès des fondateurs même de cette danse, à savoir : Kazuo et Yoshito Ohno. Son travail fut ainsi produit et vu à travers le monde, et plus exactement, à Londres, Paris, New York, et une bonne partie des pays de l’Europe et de la moitié-est du continent. Il enseigna aussi à la Martha Graham School, au Northern Ballet Theatre, en Pologne, Égypte, Palestine, Albanie, Croatie, et Hongrie. His training in Europe includes mime and movement with Adam Darius, contemporary dance at The Place and with Ballet Rambert’s Lucy Burge, Sally Owen, Ruth Silk, Nelson Fernandez, Christopher Bruce, and Robert Cohan of London Contemporary Dance Theatre.
