Summer Break Camp - August 2022 4 weeks

Week 6 Aug 08- Aug 12: Ocean Week
$220
Calling all ocean loving kiddos, this camp is for you!! This camp is the perfect blend of myth, whimsy, and science as we marvel at the wonder of the ocean. The school is our base camp, but there will also be a full day beach field trip where kiddos will have the chance to learn and explore hands on. We'll gather some treasures for crafting, take notes in our nature journal, and have plenty of time to play. The grand finale for the week is in Lunenburg where we will dive into a day of hands on learning. First we head out onto the water with the amazing folks from Lunenburg Whale Watching Tours! No guarantee that we'll see whales, nature calls the shots, but we shall go to sea and see what we can see. And yes, there are spaces available for family members who want to join us, please contact us for details. Back on land the team at Sustainable Oceans Applied Research, SOAR, will show us a highlight reel from their imaging sonar and will lead us through using some fun ocean science gear. This camp is for kids 8 and over as it does have a stronger science focus, which may be more challenging for younger kids.
Week 7 Aug 15- Aug 19: Escape Room
$200
Spend a week learning secret codes, how to unlock locks, play fun escape games, and plan and build props for an Indiana Jones/archaeological themed Escape Room for your family and friends to try. Children should have basic reading skills and/ or letter and number identification. Suggested 6+
Week 8 Aug 22- Aug 26: Glooscap and the Birds
$200
Kerry Eady will bring a week of interactive storytelling to camp. Campers will create puppets, large and small, to help them tell a Mi'kmaq story about hurricane season, and how Glooscap created the songbirds that visit Mi'kma'ki every summer
