The emphasis of this workshop will be on creating depth, texture, variety and pattern through surface manipulation processes and techniques in the painting. Scraping, smearing, dripping or stencilling will often be applied in addition to strong composition, value and colour considerations. A focus on background and foreground distinction will underline the creation of depth. The subject matter will range from elements of landscape to still life using both photographs and object arrangement. Suitable for oil or acrylic paints and some painting experience would be an asset but beginners are welcome.
