Wendie Donabie's love of nature and the inspiration for her art began in her childhood home of Batawa, Ontario. Surrounded by forested drumlin hills, she felt the pulse of nature as her own. Today, her paintings capture the beauty of the natural world.
In 2024, Wendie published "Views from the Edge of the Earth" a book of poetic reflections and short prose inspired by her paintings and photographs and her concerns for the planet. Her art and booksales support nature conservation and rehabilitation efforts.

Living in Huntsville since 2007 and a textile weaver since 2009, but found tapestry and wool sculpture through occupational therapy after an accident in 2022. The art I do began as a healing process - physically and emotionally, after sustaining a traumatic brain injury. Art has always been an important part of my life - I come from a long line of women who create and make beautiful things from wool and other textiles.

Jerry Friedman is a long time cottager on Bella Lake near Algonquin Park. It is in the shallows of Bella Lake that he finds the raw wood for his driftwood sculptures. Initially, the beauty in these pieces is not apparent. When found, they are covered in silt and algae and quite fragile. After drying for months, the fragile pieces require reinforcement and then meticulous cleaning and sanding. This brings out the texture and grain of the wood. It is the finishing with natural oil that highlights the grain in the wood. Many of the pieces are mounted on or dramatically placed on Muskoka granite.
