This epic poem, penned by Francisco Balagtas in 1838, is often revered as the Filipino counterpart of Shakespeare. Set in the 16th century and composed in old Tagalog, the narrative embodies profound themes of love, honor, loyalty, hope, and redemption. We extend a heartfelt invitation to experience the inaugural full theatrical reading of this monumental masterpiece, to be brought to life by our esteemed PAC artists and members of the community. The presentation will be delivered in Tagalog with English subtitles. We are privileged to have Ronald Mervin Sison, a distinguished classical tenor and theater artist, at the helm as the director for this captivating stage reading of Francisco Balagtas' Florante at Laura. Additionally, the event will be graced by the enchanting live background music performed by Mark Ancheta, a talented pianist from Regina, known for his versatile and emotive piano accompaniment.
