A delegation provides residents with the opportunity to speak directly to City Council&nbsp;or a standing committee about matters that influence how Hamilton grows and develops, including city budgeting (adding bike lanes), urban densification (improving transit), and urban boundary expansion (protecting conservation areas). This event is designed to be accessible and educational, and no prior experience is required. Participants are not required to speak to attend. The event officially begins at 9:30 AM. If needed, participants can meet SSS club reps on the McMaster campus at 8:15am and travel to City Hall together via the HSR (so bring your PRESTO card!), attend the delegation as a group, and return together once it concludes. Before delegation day, participants will receive a brief orientation covering what to expect inside City Hall, where to sit, how the delegation agenda works, and if needed help with their speech.&nbsp;Those who wish to participate may deliver an oral delegation of up to five minutes, with the option to use visual or video aids; scripts or short notes are welcome. Participants are also welcome to attend as observers and provide support. Drinks and snacks from Tim Hortons will be provided during the event.Delegation topics will be shared closer to the event date (as soon as they drop we&rsquo;ll let you know) and will focus on city planning issues such as urban boundary expansion, city budgeting, or urban densification. Participants who plan to speak may submit their delegation materials to the Stop Sprawl Students team in advance for feedback. Following the conclusion of the delegation, participants will return to campus together using public transit.
