ABOUT THE LAWSUIT This concert supports a lawsuit brought by six activists who were targeted and injured by Montreal police while protesting for Palestine. The lawsuit is centered around recognizing anti-Palestinian racism as a systemic issue within the SPVM. If successful, it would establish a critically important precedent for recognizing anti-Palestinian racism and policing, and could help make Palestine advocacy safer for us all. A legal finding of anti-Palestinian racial profiling could help make organizing safer by establishing that police violence cannot be treated as isolated incidents. The plaintiffs are also challenging the SPVM’s practices concerning violence and use of chemical weapons in hopes of making protests safer for organizers in the city. Bringing complex, rights-based cases forward takes significant resources. 100% of the money raised from concert tickets, donating directly to the Zeffy, or buying raffle tickets will go towards the costs of the lawsuit, including expert fees, court proceedings, pre-trial interrogations, and other legal expenses. This will allow six people to pursue their claims for justice and make a stand in solidarity with the many activists injured and targeted by the SPVM, and for the Palestinian and pro-Palestinian community in Montreal, Quebec, and across the country who have faced the consequences of increased repression and state complicity.
