Through the Festival, Polaris creates space for audiences to listen differently, gather around important Canadian albums, and explore how music shapes culture, identity, memory, and belonging. Dreaming With is a listening session, light installation, and spatial sound performance that prepares participants for intentional listening. An ambient performance composed by Josh Ingleby &amp; Brandon DeGroote brings us into (and out of) the fully dark album listen. The event treats the act of listening as a shared experience, something physical, emotional, and dreamlike.For this edition, Dreaming With focuses on Broken Social Scene&rsquo;s You Forgot It in People, the 2002 album that received the Polaris Heritage Prize in 2018. Known for its layered arrangements, shifting textures, communal energy, and movement between intimacy and expansive noise, the album becomes the centre of an experience designed to slow time down and invite audiences to hear the work with new attention.Dreaming With asks what becomes possible when an album is given a room, a ritual, and the dark. It is an invitation to listen with the body, to hear the familiar differently, and to experience Canadian music as art. About Joshua InglebyJoshua Ingleby is an artist, motion designer, and musician with a background in cinematography &mdash; a craft rooted in shaping feeling through light and space. Inspired by perceptual artists such as James Turrell and Robert Irwin, his work is concerned with redirecting attention until the familiar becomes fully present.As a musician working primarily with samplers, Ingleby recontextualizes lyrics and sounds, placing familiar materials in unfamiliar environments. His recent work with mirrors explores shared emotional memory, perception, and the presence of what is already there. That same logic runs through Dreaming With: an album, a room, and darkness to hear sound differently.
