On May 30th Hurricane Agatha hit the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. It was the worst recorded storm to hit the region . Widespread destruction ravaged the region that is one of the poorest in the country, and also the most beautiful.   The need for relief is tremendous, as many families have lost everything. There is little international attention and even less financial support for the relief effort that is happening mainly at the local, grassroots level.  Funds raised from this evening will go directly to individuals on the ground to help get essential supplies and food to remote communities that were badly impacted and would otherwise receive no financial assistance or support. Additionally, some money will be donated to established local organizations that are already dedicated to humanitarian work in the region, including work with youth and disabled people.  Many  people here in our community have close ties to this very unique place, rich in indigenous culture, natural beauty and spiritual energy. As such, we feel called to support our brothers and sisters in Oaxaca as they attempt to rebuild their communities and recover from this unimaginable disaster.
