J. & J. Taylor Safe Company, a pioneer in Canadian safe manufacturing, was established in 1855 as the Toronto Safe Works.
The company was a pioneer in the Canadian safe-making industry, credited with making the first safes in Canada.
Their safes were renowned for their ability to protect against both fire and theft, a key factor in their market dominance. Their safes were known for being very heavy and bulky, which reflected the robust security and fire-resistant materials such as concrete they used to construct the safes' walls.
