Mental Health session

Did you know that newly-arrived immigrants have better mental and physical health than the Canadian-born population. Refugees are at a higher risk for mental health problems and disorders than immigrants, however, the mental health of both immigrants and refugees tends to worsen with time in Canada. The rates of mental health problems and illnesses vary considerably between and within different groups. Evidence suggests that some subgroups are at greater risk for deteriorating mental health than others. A one-size-fits-all approach to service models is not effective - Centre for Addiction of Mental Health (CAMH) Settling in a new country can be both exciting and challenging. However, getting the right resources and support in a timely fashion makes all the difference. For this reason, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Elisabeth Nombro COUNSELLING as we enter the second week of our Newcomer Women Leadership Program (NWLP). This six-week initiative empowers our clients with essential toolkits to advance their skills personally and professionally while building meaningful connections within the community. Through Elisabeth Nombro Counselling's mental health component, Elisabeth, an immigrant Psychologist, will share her expertise and experiences, providing valuable insights and guidance to our program participants.
