Freedom Cafe

Each ticket grants one individual admission to all sessions (IJM presentation, panel discussion, and a final wrap-up time), 1 free coffee drink from Wild Ginger Coffee, and a full-course dinner.

Freedom Cafe 2023 is focusing on the topic of vulnerability.  How can people still be exploited in today's advanced society? What does vulnerability look like and how does it play a part in individuals being exploited? As an attendee of this event, you will enjoy a session with Patrick Erskine from International Justice Missions, followed by a panel discussion featuring individuals working in our community with vulnerable populations. The panelists include Daniel Martin: Kitchener Firefighter, Leola Frey from Fight4Freedom, Matt Shantz: Child and Youth Worker at Grand River Hospital, Michelle from Restorations, and Patrick Erskine from International Justice Missions. The panel discussion will focus on how we can walk with vulnerable individuals to prevent exploitation and support healing. To finish off the evening, you'll savor a catered, full-course, sit-down meal and have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss what you've heard throughout the afternoon with the people around your table. Between courses, we will have the privilege of hearing from Michelle as she shares a bit of her story as a survivor  and about her work with Restorations, an organization providing housing, and holistic care to to survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Doors open at 1:30 pm with the afternoon session starting at 2:00 pm and it will finish off by 8:30 pm. *There will be a few businesses at the event selling their fair trade goods, so come prepared to shop!  Tickets are on sale until September 9, 2023. All proceeds from this event benefit Fight4Freedom, an anti-human trafficking non-profit based out of Toronto, Ontario.
