October 17th at Army Navy Air Force Veterans Club, 7:00 pm, Crooked Path, with Charlie Ewing opening.

CROOKED PATH is a 5-piece Acoustic Roots Band that enjoys a variety of genres, including: BLUEGRASS, COUNTRY ROOTS, OLD TIME & SWING.

We came together as a group whose paths crossed through different bands and at different times, but mostly through our love of blending three (3) and four (4) part harmonies.

Charlie Ewing is a well-known and loved troubadour born in Cutbank, Montana, in wind-swept Glacier County just thirty miles south of the Medicine Line. His parents moved to the Porcupine Hills of Alberta, about 130 miles north, when he was a long yearling, and he has lived there for most of his life, ranching and living the cowboy lifestyle that dominates his songwriting.

Papa King & the Boogiemen General Admission
$25
Available until Sep 12

Saturday, Sept 12th, at Army Navy AIr Force Veterans Club, 7:00 pm

Papa King & The Boogiemen with Tanner James opening.

Papa King Cole is a solid, hard-working Albertan who supports his family as a Class 1 truck driver by day and a singer/songwriter by night.

His music and songs reflect the life he lives and observes. Driven with love and passion, this is music for all ages. His original songs engage audiences, and they play anywhere from festivals to juke joints.

Papa King & the Boogiemen – The energy that fills the room when this band turns on can be compared to a hot 1950s night on the West Side of Chicago or a stroll down Beale Street in the 30s.

We invite you all to come out and experience this energetic band in action.

Connie Kaldor (members and general admission)
$45
Available until Oct 3

Saturday, October 3rd, at the CASA Community Room.

Spend an evening with Canadian Folk icon, Connie Kaldor.

Singer-songwriter, entertainer, TV personality, and women’s music pioneer, Connie Kaldor is celebrating over 45 years in show business!

At 72, she is not slowing down!

Her 19th album, Wide Open Spaces, is inspired by her roots in the Canadian Prairies!

She began her career in folk music as part of the Canadian wave alongside artists like Stan Rogers and Valdy. Armed with her enormous stage presence, her unforgettable melodies, and her emotional depth as a songwriter, Connie became a headline act on the festival circuit. Her extensive touring has earned her a loyal fan-base that extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of folk and the Boston Globe has described her as, “a masterful performer, wildly funny one moment, deeply personal the next.”

A three-time Juno Award winner, Connie is a member of the Order of Canada, a Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal recipient, holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Regina, and is the first songwriter to receive a Western Literature Association Award of Merit.

James Keelaghan (members and general admission)
$45
Available until Nov 6

Friday, November 6th at Army Navy Air Force Veterans Club, 7:00 pm

Join James Keelaghan for a special evening.

James Keelaghan, too, burrows into that same rich seam with equal ability and comparable conviction. To quote Eric Bibb, the award-winning American acoustic bluesman, after listening to Keelaghan perform: “[You’re] a joy to hear, just beautiful.  Reminded me of the best of the best of another time – Liam Clancy, Tom Paxton etcetera.” Less colourful but more succinct, Dave Marsh, the eminent Rolling Stone critic, simply described Keelaghan as “Canada’s finest songwriter.”

Truly, throughout a career that now spans almost four decades, the Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award winner has created a repertoire of incalculable importance – a unique body of work, either inspired by or drawn from the folk tradition. Ten solo albums flush with enduring lyrical relevance. Take the beautiful but heartbreaking ballad, Jenny Bryce, for example. From any point of view, it’s indistinguishable from the numerous traditional tracks covered on his disc A Few Simple Verses.
