montreal in september often feels like a literal heaven on earth. summer may be waning, but you best believe we are not ready to go inside. so, with that in mind, we&rsquo;re doing our big diy jam this fall season a lil differently&hellip; september 26th will be our first ever FERIAS TIL SUNSET.w. jadalareign + ash lauryn + ctrlzora + g l o w z i.new york, detroit, chicago, montreal. for many years now, we&rsquo;ve been searching the city for an outdoor space to do a propa diy full-on ferias day jam. we havent had much luck&hellip; loud music outside in montreal has always felt reserved for the big institutional festivals, and not so easy for the rest of us. well, times seem to be changing, and we&rsquo;ve finally found the perfect spot. we&rsquo;ll keep it &lsquo;tba&rsquo; for now, as everybody loves a mystery, but for planning&rsquo;s sake its not far from villeray. as much as we luv an all-nighter &rsquo;til sunrise, a daytime jam brings another kind of magic. a party is the people, and an afternoon gathering allows a broader spectrum of the ferias community to partake. families. children. early risers. nightshift workers. responsible adults with great sleep habits, but who still wanna get-down. this one is for them/you. there is also the magic of the sun, and the feeling of dancing under it.&nbsp; so yes, long story short - the next big ferias jam is outside, and during the day. now on to the music...- to those who really pay attention, jadalareign&#39;s meteoric rise within brooklyn&rsquo;s dance community comes as no surprise. from her sublime love from the sun series, to her time as a resident+booker at nowadays, to the records she chooses to put on the table night-in-night-out&hellip; jada brings a truly tireless commitment to honoring the black musicians, old and new, who&rsquo;ve build this culture we all love today from the ground up.&nbsp; she&rsquo;s simply one of the hardest working community members out there - a real fixture at clubs in new york &amp; beyond, whether playing or supporting on the floor. the nyc native&#39;s staunch effort to preserve the origins of black american dance music has made her synonymous with the city&#39;s emergent house renaissance, and jada is a backbone of brooklyn&rsquo;s current scene in just about every way imaginable.&nbsp; musically, she brings an indefinable funk, rifling through house history and techno - punchier sounds occasionally softened by hazy soul and sumptuous jazz, with a record bag shaped across the northeast, the midwest, and the diaspora. after years of watching her flip floors each may in detroit, we&rsquo;ve been trying to find the right moment to bring jada to town - we&rsquo;re blessed to finally have the stars align, as we welcome jadalareign for her very first ferias jam. - mentored by the true architects of house music on the south side of chicago, ctrlzora does the dam thing as it has been done from the very beginning. as a deejay, activist, curator and producer, ctrlzora pushes to preserve chicago&rsquo;s black and queer dance-music history and advocates for foundational spaces like the warehouse and the post. the cowrie - zora&rsquo;s brilliant chicago party, archival mix series, and radio show - brings together all generations of midwest selectors into conversation on the same floor. on the decks, zora&rsquo;s commitment to the roots &nbsp;&amp; dedication to the craft have drawn respect, admiration, and support from the very titans that built this scene on day one. all that to say, we&rsquo;re honored to have ctrlzora making their montreal debut on a ferias floor, alongside two dear friends, mentors, and peers. - atlanta-via-detroit&rsquo;s ash lauryn simply does it all : shes a producer, dj, journalist, radio host, and most important a MOTHER! long story short, ash is an all-around icon of the modern house scene and true ferias family at this point. ash was raised on a diet of ron trent, kai alcé, and patrice scott, so you know she reps a soulful, classically-rooted house sound. she has a distinct ear for the lost treasures of a golden era in detroit, chicago, new york, and beyond, though she is equally as dedicated to uplifting new generations of black producers through her underground &amp; black project, under which she hosts an nts show, as well as a refreshingly honest blog on the triumphs and travails of navigating the dance music world as a black woman. she also throws an annual movement weekend party in her native detroit under the same banner, while the name also serves as an apt description of the music she plays&hellip; &ldquo;about 90 percent of the music i play is black american music, and i wouldn&#39;t have it any other way.&quot; anyone who&rsquo;s been to ferias jams for the last few years will already know+love ash as much as we do, and we&rsquo;re thrilled to have her back in montreal for yet another fall function. - and of course it wouldn&rsquo;t be a ferias jam without montreal in the front&hellip; g l o w z i is just unstoppable. you already know + you most definitely already love all that glo does with such style and grace. a master of cuts from all corners, and a true montreal legend. a real part of this whole ferias journey since just about the very beginning, and the perfect selector to set our afternoon in motion. saturday, september 26th. 3pm - 11pm. outside!
