Milkweed blooms also serve as a source of pollen and nectar for bees and butterflies in late summer. The pink flowers appear in early to mid summer, and the plants can grow up to 100-150cm tall. Swamp Milkweed will thrive in moist to medium wet clay soil. Although Common Milkweed is more commonly found in the wild in New Brunswick, Swamp Milkweed does not have a rhizomatic root system, meaning it will not spread beyond where it has been planted.
