Curious about river ecology, environmental restoration, or how creative ideas can help shape a community? Whether you&#39;re developing a proposal for the Flowing Futures: Avon River Design Challenge or simply interested in Stratford&#39;s river and its future, you&#39;re warmly invited to this free, interactive community event. The Flowing Futures River Clinic has been designed to inspire ideas, answer questions, and help participants better understand the environmental, ecological, and practical considerations involved in imagining Stratford&#39;s river future. The Evening Includes🚶 A Guided River WalkWe&#39;ll begin with a short walk along the Avon River, stopping at locations connected to potential Flowing Futures projects. Together we&#39;ll explore the river&#39;s landscape, ecology, history, and possibilities while discussing ideas in the places where they could one day come to life. 💬 An Interactive WorkshopFollowing the walk, we&#39;ll gather at Copperlight (Knox Church) for an engaging workshop led by environmental and ecology specialists from MTE Consultants, joined by representatives from BMI Group.Together they&#39;ll explore topics including:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">River ecology and watershed health</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Habitat restoration and environmental sustainability</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Environmental feasibility</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Design, construction, and implementation considerations</li></ul>The workshop will conclude with an open discussion where participants can ask questions, receive feedback on their own project ideas, and learn from one another in a collaborative setting. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided during the workshop, so feel free to come straight from work and join us for an engaging evening of conversation, learning, and community imagination. Whether you&#39;re an artist, student, designer, educator, environmental advocate, community resident, or simply someone who cares about Stratford&#39;s Avon River, everyone is welcome. About Flowing Futures Flowing Futures: Avon River Design Challenge is a community-wide initiative inviting artists, students, designers, environmental thinkers, and community members to imagine the future of Stratford&#39;s Avon River through bold, creative ideas. Submissions may take almost any form&mdash;from public art and ecological restoration concepts to storytelling, landscape design, architecture, engineering, music, digital media, or community programming&mdash;encouraging participants to envision a more vibrant, sustainable, and connected future for Stratford&#39;s river. Selected submissions will be featured in a public exhibition October 1&ndash;17, 2026 at Our Stōr(y), Copperlight, and, where appropriate, along the Avon River. The initiative also includes Juried Awards, a Student &amp; Youth Stream, and a People&#39;s Choice Award. Flowing Futures is presented by the Provocation Ideas Festival in partnership with BMI Group, MTE Consultants, Stratford Public Library, Our Stōr(y), The Boathouse Stratford, and Pathways to Poetry Festival, and is made possible in part through support from the Stratford Destination Development Fund (DDF).
