Folk Around Friday is all about bringing people together through dance, culture, and community. Each Folk Around Friday will feature a different culture and give participants the opportunity to learn traditional folk dances from around the world in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming environment. No previous dance experience is needed. The goal is simply to get people moving, learning, and enjoying these traditions together. Folk dance has a special way of bringing generations together. At every Zabava, we see the dance floor fill up as soon as the traditional folk dances begin. People of all ages join in, and many of these dances have been passed down through families and communities for generations. We want Folk Around Fridays to help keep those traditions alive while also introducing people to dances and cultures they may not have experienced before. After the dancing, we want people to stay, socialize, and connect. Alcoholic beverages for adults, along with non-alcoholic options, will be available so everyone can enjoy the social side of the evening as well. More than anything, Folk Around Fridays is about creating community. It’s a chance to learn something new, celebrate different cultures, meet new people, and keep the joy of folk dancing alive for future generations.
