Own the Original: The First Heritage Calgary Awards Commission
This one-of-a-kind painting is the first original artwork ever commissioned for the Heritage Calgary Awards. It depicts the iconic Hudson’s Bay Company Department Store on Stephen Avenue, a landmark that has stood at the heart of Calgary for more than a century and was recently named one of Canada’s Top 10 Endangered Places by the National Trust for Canada.
Created especially for the 2026 Heritage Calgary Awards, this piece celebrates both the beauty of Calgary’s built heritage and the urgent need to protect it. Each of this year’s award recipients will receive an exclusive print of the work, but only one bidder will have the opportunity to own the original painting.
By participating in the auction, you are doing more than acquiring an extraordinary and historically significant artwork. You are supporting Heritage Calgary’s research, education and preservation of our city’s shared heritage.
Take home the original artwork that launched a new Heritage Calgary Awards tradition and own a meaningful piece of Calgary’s history.
