About 🧠 Creative Tech: Circuit Art & Codebreaking 🎨 Join us for a new adventure into creative technology as we explore the intersection of computer science, engineering, technology, and art! We’ll learn all about circuits and make our own electric or light-up art piece, and then dip our toes into computer science to learn about how computers communicate before building translation decoders to codebreak secret messages! We’ll finish with another unique craft - using computer code to turn our names or a fun phrase into beaded bracelets. Details:

August 18th, 2026

At Acadia University's Biology Building in Wolfville

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

For girls and gender diverse youth ages 11-15* Updated August 16

Pay-what-you-can, full cost is $50

Maximum 12 participants

No prior knowledge needed!

Activities:

Intro to Circuits: we’ll learn the basics of what electrical circuits are and how engineers work with them.

Electric Art: Using our new knowledge of circuits, we’ll get creative and build our own ‘circuitry art’, using a watch battery, copper tape, and an LED to make a light up art piece of our own design!

Computer Language Codebreaking: We’ll explore how computers communicate and interpret information, learning basic binary encryption and building a translation decoder to codebreak secret messages on a computer-based scavenger hunt!

Make Your Own Binary Bracelet: We’ll finish with a unique craft - using computer code to turn their name or a fun phrase into a beaded bracelet!

Participants should come prepared with a comfortable pair of shoes to walk in (for an outdoor break), a backpack, water bottle, and lunch!
