LXCL:Dyeing with Mushrooms with Candice Cullum Discover the world of fungal dyes! Candice will be cooking up local wild mushrooms in her dye pots, showcasing the colours of the Kootenay forest. Learn tips and tricks for working with various mushrooms and mordants, and leave with a hand-dyed piece of the festival!

Your sign‑up helps us plan guided forays, talks, and workshops that celebrate the diversity and importance of fungi in our forests and kitchens. What to expect:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Guided mushroom walks and identification tables</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Culinary demos, tastings, and artisan market</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Family‑friendly activities, from puppet shows to costumes 🌲</li></ul> Outline of the day: Register early Saturday at the Kaslo Legion.&nbsp;The morning features expert-led forays for ticket-holders into the local woods, where you&rsquo;ll learn about habitat, safe harvesting and spotting edibles versus less friendly mushies.&nbsp; Return to home base at the Kaslo Legion for lunch at one of the food vendors or explore Kaslo&rsquo;s restaurants offering mushroom specials.&nbsp;Onsite, shop the mushroom-themed market and take in some music and short talks.&nbsp; Afternoon workshops for ticket-holders include both pre-registered and general offerings. Larger talks don&rsquo;t require pre-registration, just your general admission ticket. A couple of smaller workshops require pre-registration to avoid crowding, and involve an additional small fee to help cover the costs of materials or samples. Ensure you sign up separately in advance for those using the selections below. Workshops needing pre-registration are noted. We&rsquo;ve left time at the end of the day as well to hit the market or grab an early dinner with a vendor.&nbsp; Or consider hanging out in Kaslo for dinner with one of the great local restaurants while you catch up on the day&rsquo;s learning with fellow foragers.
