VLACC is thrilled to welcome back our beloved Latin American Short Stories Reading Group, in collaboration with SFU&rsquo;s Department of World Languages and Literatures. This is a free event, but registration is required, and donations are always appreciated.Reserve your spot!!&nbsp;This session will be facilitated by Camila Dilli, SFU Visiting Faculty, and will guide us through an inspiring journey into the Brazilian short work Ideas to Postpone the End of the World (2020), by Indigenous leader, writer, and activist Ailton Krenak. A member of the Krenak people of southeastern Brazil, Krenak has long been recognized for his role in Indigenous rights movements and his powerful reflections on humanity&rsquo;s relationship with the planet. In this book, he weaves together philosophy, ancestral knowledge, and ecological awareness to challenge dominant ideas of progress and propose new ways of living that honour interdependence and sustainability. For our discussion, we will focus on pages 8 to 36, where Krenak shares stories and provocations that invite us to imagine alternatives to the ecological and social crises of our times.&nbsp;The stories will be available in both the original Portuguese version and English translation. Discussions will be in English, and no prior knowledge of Latin American literature is required, just curiosity and a love for stories!
