Monotypes are unique prints created by directly transferring an image. We will focus on both spontaneous and methodical approaches to the medium. Demonstrations will include the use of an etching press, hand printing on a gel plate, and Plexiglas. Using both acrylic paint and water-based ink media, we will integrate monotype and collage techniques using masks and stencils to create images directly on paper. We will also explore how to create compelling images using lines and marks and how to transfer images from photographs or magazines.
