You will find your name (sometimes more than once if you offered to help at multiple spots), and your stations/job duties. As a Race Marshal/Water Station volunteer, you will be assigned to a specific location along one of the routes. In addition to ensuring that the runners stay on course, one of your most important functions is to ensure that the runners are aware of any traffic hazards that may be present as they proceed along the route. Canatara Park will be closed to traffic as much as possible, but the remaining parts of the route through Point Edward are an open course. This means that traffic will be flowing and the rules of the road must be followed. At no time do we expect you to attempt to stop traffic that has the right of way to allow a runner to proceed. The runners will be advised at the start of the race that it is an open course. They are expected to proceed with care and caution and respect the rules of the road at all times. All Marshals/Water Station volunteers are asked to wear bright clothing and to bring a quality flashlight with them. You will be provided with a reflective safety vest. A committee member will be coming by your location at that time to ensure that all volunteers are in place and to answer any questions you may have.
