"A Change in the Weather" by Albert Ranger | Framed: 30” x 41.5” | Acrylic on Canvas | Al Ranger was born in Nanaimo, BC, on September 27, 1935, the second son of Frederick Arthur Ranger and Mary Emily Weighill, whose families arrived from England in 1910. His art career began in 1965 as Advertising & Display Manager for Sears Nanaimo, while also freelancing as a commercial artist. In 1971, he transferred to Kelowna, where he began pursuing fine art. His first solo show was at the Dow Reid Gallery in 1973, and he became a full-time artist in 1979 after retiring from Sears. Returning to Vancouver Island, Al set up a studio in Nanoose Bay. A prolific painter, he created over 1,000 works in watercolor, ink, charcoal, and acrylic, many of which are held in private collections worldwide.
