We are pleased to invite you to participate in a unique presentation by genealogist Peter Jassem. Peter is an architect by profession who dedicated years to research his relatives&#39; roots who were affected by the Holocaust. His work preserves the lessons of humanity and tolerance as learned from survivors.His presentation will explore not only major collections and institutions, including the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Yad Vashem and Arolsen Archives, but also dozens of lesser-known resources in Poland and around the world, and the techniques for exploring them.While his research focuses on Poland, where all of the individuals he studied lived prior to the Holocaust, many of the resources and methodologies he employed are equally applicable for research in other countries.Participants will benefit from this practical information interwoven with unique personal stories&mdash;often heartbreaking, sometimes marked by extraordinary acts of courage or seemingly miraculous turns of fate&mdash;that illustrate the wide range of experiences of Polish Jews during the Holocaust. These accounts encompass both tragic deaths and remarkable survival journeys, as well as examples of betrayal and the selfless assistance provided by their non-Jewish compatriots. Descendants and the public will find this presentation richly illustrated and find the presentation inspiring for the work we still need to do.
