Miles for Minds 5K Run &amp; Community Walk On May 22, 2025, a close family member of one of our organizers suffered a traumatic brain injury that changed their life in an instant. What followed were months of hospitalization, intensive rehabilitation, and uncertainty as their family faced one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Thanks to the exceptional care provided by the dedicated team at St. Joseph&rsquo;s Health Care London, along with incredible determination and resilience, they made what medical professionals described as a near-miraculous recovery. While their story is one of hope, it also revealed the challenges that thousands of individuals and families face after an acquired brain injury&mdash;physically, emotionally, and financially.Inspired by this journey, Canadian Cedars of Hope and Community Care TD created Miles for Minds to give back to the community that made recovery possible. This 5K Run &amp; Community Walk is raising funds in support of the Acquired Brain Injury Program at Parkwood Hospital, helping patients receive the specialized rehabilitation they need to rebuild their lives. Our fundraising goal is to help St. Joseph&rsquo;s Health Care London purchase a new XCITE T.W.O. Functional Electrical Stimulation System, an advanced rehabilitation device valued at approximately $55,000. The XCITE system combines electrical stimulation with functional movement training to help patients recovering from acquired brain injuries, stroke, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological conditions. It enables patients to regain strength, improve movement, practice everyday tasks, and work toward greater independence and a higher quality of life.Every step taken and every dollar donated brings us closer to providing patients with access to this life-changing technology.Whether you choose to run, walk, donate, or cheer from the sidelines, you&rsquo;re helping make recovery possible for individuals and families facing the challenges of acquired brain injury.
