In 2005, music teacher Eric Emde&nbsp;and the band&nbsp;travelled to Detroit to perform for music students at a local high school. Ms. Reeves attended the performance and was so impressed with the Victoria students that she decided to mentor them. When she was invited to perform at the 2006 Victoria International Jazz Festival, she asked the students to be her back-up band at the Royal Theatre.
