Before being appointed organist at St. Peter&rsquo;s Basilica in Rome, Girolamo Frescobaldi studied with the great madrigalist Luzzasco Luzzaschi in his native Ferrara. During his travels through northern Italy, he likely met the renowned Claudio Monteverdi in Mantua. He later temporarily left his position at the Vatican to join the court of the powerful Medici family in Florence, where he encountered some of Italy&rsquo;s finest musicians, including Francesca Caccini, renowned for her magnificent voice and subtle lute playing, and whose remarkable monodies have come down to us. Join us as we follow in the footsteps of one of the emblematic composers of the early Baroque in Italy.
