It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well. Students in grades 5-12 will have the opportunity to learn the art of musical theatre, participate in rehearsals, and perform in a full-scale musical production. Through auditions, cast members will be selected for roles in each session’s musical, culminating in a final performance at the end of the session. This program allows first time Musical Theatre performers to work with more experienced cast members. While, all registered receive a role in the show, each person must audition for their role, as auditioning is an invaluable experience and it helps the directorate know where the performer will shine the most. Cast Members have the expectation to move quickly through the material, learning theatrical techniques, skill honing, time management, self-discipline, collaboration and self-discovery. Program Cost: $450.00 Program Director: Theresa Noon-Hunter All person’s registered will be in the show.
