In this special gathering, we come together with Bisan, Chef Hani 👨&zwj;🍳, and Em Mhareb 🌾 to share the story of the Freekeh Preservation Initiative&mdash;a powerful project rooted in resilience, memory, and deep connection to the land 🌱.Four years ago, they discovered that Em Mhareb held rare ancestral wheat seeds&mdash;elheteye elsamra and Nab el Jamal 🌾&mdash;varieties many had never heard of. Planting them together became an annual tradition, celebrating the freekeh harvest 🧺✨&mdash;a practice now rare and mostly found in Palestine 🇵🇸, Lebanon 🇱🇧, and Syria 🇸🇾.When the war began, settlers took over Em Mhareb&rsquo;s land 💔.
