Hey there all you Denmaniacs.  DIRCS is coming back at you with a NYE extravaganza with Bu VonBlume from Cumberland to get you dancing.  We were happy to see everyone back out and about for Halloween this year, and hope you have more shimmy with your shake for the NYE fun.  DJ Eliazar will be back to play some tunes before, between sets, and after the band if you have any jam left.   The dance will be all ages, with the back hall opened up for more chill space in front of the fire, as well as the games room being open for kids and adults to enjoy.  There will be snacks, and a bar with a variety of options.    We will also have free childcare once again at the Activity center Lounge till 12:30 so parents can come out for a boogie as well.  Please tip your babysitters since they are working instead of joining the party:) We hope you can come and boogie in the new year with our fine community of strange and curious folk.  Doors at 8:30pm and band starts at 9:30.  $30 for tickets that can be purchased at Abraxas, the General Store, or online. Bu VonBlume Bio: Bu Von Blume is funk. Bu Von Blume is disco. Bu Von Blume is cumbia, punk, ska, soul, balkan. Whatever it takes to get the people moving and grooving, really. Comox/Cowichan Valley multi-instrumentalist Lou Kinglish (normally an accordion player) teamed up with some of the heaviest hitting funk, brass, jazz and punk virtuosos around to create Bu Von Blume; a band that mixes hilarious theatre antics with downright dangerous bass and horn lines to cook up a real dance fiasco. Almost every song features an interactive gimmick of some kind, inviting the audience to join along in the fun, a truly unique and engaging spectacle. Since forming in 2022 in the little town of Cumberland, Bu Von Blume has been approached to play many festivals and late night events, where people come for the dance and the improvisational mysteries and stay for the giant toothbrush (there’s a giant toothbrush). Bring your dancing shoes and wear something outrageous, there will be funk.
