She was a member of the wealthy Dunsmuir family, part of the second generation. Her grandparents were Robert and Joan Dunsmuir, who built Craigdarroch Castle. &nbsp;Her father was James Dunsmuir, one-time premier and Lieutenant-Governor of B.C., so Kathleen spent some of her growing-up time at Hatley Castle. She was an attentive, loving sister to her 10 siblings. She was a movie-star wannabe, who used her fortune to make it happen. &nbsp;She was a glamourous hostess in Victoria. She was a loving mother. She was a hands-on benefactor for soldiers in two wars, who met a sad end. Moira Dann, will unravel the conundrum that was Kathleen Dunsmuir. Moira Dann is currently a master&rsquo;s student in Public History at the University of Victoria, scheduled to graduate in Spring 2027. &nbsp;She shares a birthplace with Saul Bellow (Lachine, Quebec) and a birthdate with the Dalai Lama. She has worked as a senior editor for CBC News and the Globe and Mail where she conceived and edited the book Facts &amp; Arguments: Selected Essays from The Globe and Mail for Penguin Books. &nbsp;In 2016, she earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from University of King&rsquo;s College in Halifax and recently completed a certificate in teaching creative writing. &nbsp;Moira is President of the Board at Craigdarroch Castle.
