No to Canadian Mining! 🌏&nbsp;is a concert fundraiser supporting the work of human rights defenders in the Philippines!&nbsp; In partnership with Civil Decay (@civildecay_ on Instagram) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, DOORS AT 7PM MUSIC AT 8PM118 W HASTINGS, VANCOUVER The bands:M01EAcid FountainNitroglycerinRikochet The Philippines remains one of the most&nbsp;dangerous places in the world&nbsp;for land defenders. As it stands, the Philippines also has one of the strongest movements in the world for Indigenous rights and opposing extraction. The Canadian state remains complicit,&nbsp;both in providing military aid to the oppressive government that routinely and violently suppresses activists, and by having very large assets in mining companies in the country, such as OceanaGold and B2Gold. The proceeds will go to the following: 1. Supporting our day-to-day work. As a grassroots organization, we rely on donations to keep our work afloat. This helps us run campaigns, host events, and sustain our work. 2. Sending activists to the Kapit-Bisig ICHRP (International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines) and FFPS (Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle) Global Conference in late September.&nbsp;5 CPSHR members are heading to Toronto to learn more about what it means to be part of an international solidarity movement. They will meet activists from around the world and bring lessons back to share! 3.&nbsp;Sending activists to the Philippines on Human Rights missions and exposure trips. ICHRP conducts International Observer Missions (IOMs) and fact-finding missions to document and report on human rights violations. Exposure trips are some of the best ways to see the situation on the ground, to learn directly from land defenders, and to directly support their work. Indigenous organizations in the Philippines are inviting us to learn how their lives and livelihoods are harmed by Canadian mining projects, Canadian trade deals, and Canadian military presence in the Philippines. By registering, you help sustain the struggle for our collective rights, our partnerships between communities in Canada and the Philippines, and you contribute to building a Planet truly for the People!&nbsp;Join us in standing with land and human rights defenders through an evening of music!
