What to Bring:A notebook, diary, or paper, and a pen or pencil. What to Expect: Discover your inner poet! This workshop will introduce participants to free verse poetry as a way to express the thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to cancer. Writing exercises will give time for personal reflection, which can be shared with others or kept private. No experience necessary. Materials needed: Paper and pen or pencil. Volunteer Leader:Larry - Writer, Retired Counselling Practitioner About our Volunteer Leader: Larry Finkelman was diagnosed with colon cancer in May of 2024. Shortly after, he began writing his way through surgery, chemo, and recovery as a way to understand the flood of emotion that became overwhelming. He has been writing poetry for over ten years and has just completed a collection of poems about his experience of cancer. He has self-published Bearing Witness to Antisemitism, A Resource for Teachers (2024) with Jasmine Kranat (available on Amazon). His poems have been published in the Shalom magazine and on his poetry website: larryslinesofpoetry.com. No longer able to attend?
