This final iteration of the Storytelling Circle will take place at Magpie Books. The Storytelling Circle builds a conversation with the audience through a flexible, participant-led creative community where individuals develop personal stories that honour dignity, creativity, humour, lived experience, and accessibility. A toolkit of activities and resources will support new and continuing storytellers as they choose what works best for their learning style, interests, and goals. The circles will build possible approaches to digital storytelling and culminate in an opportunity to give a public reading of stories under five minutes. Julie Andrew (she/her) is an active advocate for Persons with Disabilities, a dancer, actor, and choreographer who hopes to keep growing her artistic abilities and tell meaningful stories that can lead to a changed world. Heath Birkholz (they/him) is a collaborative artist and activist whose storytelling practice is rooted in disability community and social justice, and has worked in theatre, dance, film, and community-based projects as a writer, storyteller, community liaison, and choreographer. Both Julie and Heath have lived experience with disability. CRIPSiE membership is required for this event.
