Join an interactive workshop on student activism in the Philippines and its connections to broader struggles and mass movements in Canada and beyond; we&rsquo;ll have an art build where participants can create an art piece inspired by the discussion. We will also illustrate how contemporary student movements in the Philippines are mobilized, such as the student walkout at the UP Diliman in May 2026 after the military massacred a student activist and others supporting peasant farmers in grave violation of international humanitarian law. We&rsquo;ll get into student organizing and campus activism by highlighting the issues concerning youth in the Philippines, particularly student activists who continue to be suppressed by the fascist regime.&nbsp; Anakbayan North York is a grassroots organization of Filipino youth for national democracy in the Philippines. We fight for true national liberation of the Philippines, free from corruption, foreign imperialists, and to uphold genuine democracy for the majority of the Filipino people: peasants, workers, and youth. We educate Filipino youth about Filipino histories of resistance, organize and develop activism skills, and mobilize to demonstrate against corruption in the Philippines, address the root causes of forced migration, and build international solidarity across national liberation, anti-imperialist movements around the world. 🖤Presented by:&nbsp;Anakbayan North York 😷 COVID mitigation: Masking is encouraged, and available for free at the door.
