WORKSHOP Everyday Sourdough: From Starter to Table

During this hands-on workshop, participants will be guided through each step of the sourdough process, from understanding and feeding a starter to mixing, shaping, and preparing dough for baking. Together, we’ll break down the stages of sourdough in a simple, approachable way, while learning practical dough management techniques that take the mystery out of baking. Whether you’re brand new or have tried and struggled before, this class is designed to build confidence and give you a clear, repeatable process you can use at home.

Each participant will leave with a thoughtfully prepared starter kit to help you get going right away. You’ll receive your own jar of active sourdough starter, a prepared loaf of dough ready to bake at home, a recipe card, and a clear ingredients and equipment list so you know exactly what you need (and don’t need) to continue. Combined with the hands-on experience from the workshop, you’ll have everything you need to confidently begin your own sourdough baking journey.

Guided by student leaders from Unity Christian High School, kids will be walked step-by-step through shaping petals, stems, and leaves to create their own unique floral designs. With plenty of room for creativity, each child can mix colours and styles to make a bouquet that’s completely their own.

This hands-on session is relaxed, engaging, and perfect for all skill levels—no prior crafting experience needed. Participants will leave with a finished pipe cleaner flower bouquet to take home or gift, along with the skills to keep creating. It’s a great opportunity for younger students to learn from older peers in a fun, encouraging environment while enjoying a creative break. 🌸
