New hire Zora is suspiciously overqualified for her hive maintenance position, but finds a hopeful ally in long-time employee Pilar. When they discover an ethically dubious but highly effective method for reviving the bee population, they must hide their discovery from their corporate-minded supervisor Gwen - and wrestle with the moral implications of their work. Equal parts horror, comedy, and elegy for a sick planet, The Apiary asks us what we are willing to give up to bring hope back to hopeless times. The Apiary&rsquo;s shocking, hilarious and gruesome story will be brought to life by an internationally acclaimed creative team (Daniela Atiencia, Wladimiro Woyno Rodriguez, Merve Yoruk, Maria Zarrillo), a cast of indie theatre divas (Jasmine Chen, Lisa Goebel, Christine Quintana and Carmela Sison), and features a live sound design by Jessie Award-winning multidisciplinary violinist Molly MacKinnon, who will embody the bees using mesmerizing live looping and sound layering.
