The Forgotten Warriors is the powerful true story of the courageous last stand by Mi&rsquo;kmaw activists from Miawpukek First Nations (Conne River), Newfoundland and Labrador. In 1983, a group of nine individuals risked their lives by undertaking a hunger strike in a desperate plea for the government to release funds owed to their community. It was an act of extraordinary courage and determination&mdash;driven by a deep hunger for justice for their families, for those who came before them, and for those yet to come. Narrated and directed by Noel Joe, this compelling documentary weaves first-hand accounts from the hunger strikers themselves, those who supported their efforts in 1983, and family members who witnessed the personal and collective impact of this historic act of resistance. The screening will be followed by a Q&amp;A with director Noel Joe and Roger Maunder, Producer/Mentor.
