The great Grebe-once is all about slow bird time with the Bird Gang 🦆&mdash;easy pace, lots of laughs, and space to learn together. We&#39;ll be slowly moving along the iconic wooden White Rock Pier at the peak of waterbird season in the Salish Sea.&nbsp; Join us to see a unique assemblage of species such as Western and Eared Grebe, Long-tailed Duck, 3 species of Loon, and Black Turnstone. We will bring extra binoculars and spotting scopes, and we&#39;ll have plenty of tips to help you notice and identify the many waterbirds that choose to spend time in our urbanized landscape. Parking here is metered, so carpooling is encouraged. This is one of the shortest distance walks of the year, so if you&#39;re not a hiker, this one&#39;s for you!&nbsp; As always with winter events DRESS WARM. It can look warmer than it feels when out by the ocean and we don&#39;t want anyone coming unprepared. Your registration directly supports SBS education, recreation, and stewardship for Global Majority, 2SLGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities of the Salish Coast. Come hang, meet new bird buds, and help keep nature access real for our people. 🐦
